Graduate Electric Racing Team

After a very successful season last year and with over 100 cars attending this race, the pressure was on but the team certainly delivered in true Driven Style. Their lead car, named Zev, continued to set the pace taking the chequered flag with a huge 2.5 minute gap to the second place car.

The Driven team is made up of graduates, undergraduates and apprentices. It has been running for the last 10 years and in that time each team has designed, built and raced their own electric race car. This season they are racing two cars, ZeV and D-17, that run off a 24V DC motor powered by two 12V batteries and are built completely from scratch by the team.

The series is run by the Greenpower Education Trust, which is backed by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). The organisation predominantly works to inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) through a challenge to design build and race an electric car.
